Cash's Recent Activities

I've been super busy lately with the new hotel but thought I'd put a few pictures of Cash's latest activities. I don't know why but for some reason he sticks his toungue out whenever he's walking. Sometimes it's cute.....sometimes it looks like he's retarded.

Oh who doesn't enjoy a good smut magazine every now and then! Have I mentioned that Cash is a very advanced child...so advanced he can read upside down! Below is a fun picture of he and Kai pretending to be the Easter Bunny. I'm actually amazed we got a shot with the ears on his head---he kept ripping them off and giving me a look like "are you serious mom?" I love this kid! He keeps me entertained on a daily basis! He's a keeper for sure.

Happy Birthday Cash!!

It's hard to believe my little boy is one years old!!! It literally feels like just yesterday he was born. I can't believe how fast the year has gone by---I never knew I could feel such love for a little person. Cash is by far the best thing that has ever happend to Jed and I. (besides eachother of course!) Yesterday we celebrated with our family and Cash's self-appointed God-parents, with a bbq and of course cake and ice cream! We started out the day with Cash's favorite breakfast----cinamon raisin french toast. I love the pictures below of Cash in his little party hat. You can just tell by the look on his face that he thinks the hat is totally dumb and if he could talk I'm sure he'd tell me that.

I LOVE this picture of Aunt Marie holding Cash. It's proof to the world that she really is good with kids despite what she thinks. Cash has always loved her. Please take note of the ghetto candle on the cake.....yes, that's right---I forgot to get candles!!! I suck. oh well, he won't remember right?
Also take note of the huge cake that Aunt Kami bought him for himself! I sent her into Smith's while I waited in the car with the boys and told her to just get a large cupcake or a small little cake that he could dig into. She came out with this! Of course Cash didn't complain---he dug right in---no coaxing. Needless to say it was a fun day. Thanks to our family and friends who came and put up with the typical first parents first birthday party. Here's to many more years with our happy and fun little boy!!! p.s. he's not totally walking but taking a good 10 steps at a time!!! So fun!

Mother's have to sacrafice???

So I've always heard about mother's making sacrafices for their kids and I always knew my mom did it for me. You know----the whole mom's wearing ugly mom jeans so their kids can have the "cool" jeans. Or mom's wearing the same dress to church for years so their kids can have cute clothes. Well, this new "unspoken law" hit me full force this week!!! Now I fully realize this will probably make me sound like a spoiled brat or maybe that I don't love Cash and all but oh well...not ture. I'm just keeping it real. So here's the situation.....I got a little bonus at work this week and instantly running through my head I was thinking "what kind of food storage could I buy with this???---YEAH RIGHT! I instantly thought of this purse I've been wanting forever!!!! (it's pictured below---isn't it soooooo cute!) I mean, it's not totally selfish---it's actually a diaper bag also so I was of course was thinking about my little guy too! Anyway, then the sick realization hit me that Cash needed a new car seat! So yip, that's right---Cash is the proud owner of a new car seat---which I'll be honest---it makes me happy to see that he's so excited to be a big boy and facing forward so he can see so much more. I guess my heart grew two sizes that day. I guess the cute purse can wait and I'll just have to keep using the one purse I already have---oh wait, I like to collect purses like shoes---I think I might have more than one in the closet to use!

Superbowl Sunday

It was that time of year again....time for a superbowl party which quite honestly is just an excuse to get together with friends, make some grubbin food and send the guys downstairs while the girls stay upstairs and gossip. This year we had quite a few more kids in the mix so we of course sent them down to play in the basement! The above picture is to prove to Andy that Luke really does have a wife! Below is a picture of Sam---Carrie ditched him this weekend so he showed up with his three hungry boys and left with three tired and full boys!

Cash of course loves the attention from the ladies and was in heaven just snuggling with Auntie Missy on the coach. I couldn't believe how long he sat with her because he's such a busy body these days----and according to Missy he's a bully to the other kids. Below is a nice shot of the kids playing ---I love having a basement that I can banish them too!

So below is a series of shots from Cash's latest trick---he's figured out how to open the glass doors in the hutch and loves to climb in and "hide" in there. I use the term "hide" loosely since they are glass doors and all. The poor kid is such a clutz/daredevil that he has at least 5 bruises on his head at all times. My grandpa calls him Tuff Tumbleweed. I personally call him Bruiser. Good thing he's cute!

I love this guy!

First of all I know this is picture is almost a year old but it's my favorite picture ever of Jed. Second of all, I know it's not Valentines Day, or Father's Day or Jed's birthday yet but I just had to write a little bit about why I married the best husband/father in the world! So why am I on such a husband high you might ask???...well, first of all let me tell you about last weekend...Jed went to Seattle and took Cash with him (well, actually he drove to Seattle with Cody so he wouldn't have to drive by himself and Cash flew on the plane with my awesome sister-in-law Meridith to Seattle) so I could have an entire weekend to MYSELF!!!! Yes, that's right--I'm a horrible mom who absolutely loved having an entire weekend all to myself to do whatever the heck I wanted! I slept in til 10! I went to couple of movies. I shopped. I ate out at my favorite places. I'm not going to lie---it was so great! I highly recommend it to any of you moms out there. I bet I haven't slept that well in 2 years! So anyway, back to my awesome husband. As many of you know when Jed isn't working he takes care of Cash while I'm working and he does an awesome job. I seriously think he could be a stay at home dad and be awesome at it. Tonight I even came home to a roast in the crock-pot---that's right ladies---he makes dinner! So pretty much I married the best guy in the world. I love you Jedly!! And of course I can't have a post without adding a few pictures of my second favorite guy in the world...Cashy!

Take note of his dirty shirt and nice bruise on his forehead---he nailed it on the door one morning and it was just like in the cartoons when a person falls and gets an instant goose egg--poor kid. And below is a nice "cheeser" shot---I seriously don't know why he makes this face but it cracks me up. He usually does this weird sound with it too.

Crappy Christmas....literally!

It all began the Tuesday before Christmas.........the flu struck the Baadsgaard house! I was the first man down...violent puking--like the kind when your 6 years old and your mom just can't understand why how you couldn't make it 2 more steps to the toilet----yip, there's nothing like having to clean up your own puke! By the next afternoon I was feeling better but then it hit Jed, my mom, my dad and Cash full force. At one point I had one person in each bathroom puking. We had to cancel all plans and pretty much just laid around looking at eachother. On the bright side...I didn't have to cook because eating was the last thing anyone wanted to do!

By Christmas morning everyone was to the point they could at least get out of bed........for a good 30 minutes anyway---just long enough to open gifts--say a mumbled thanks and head back to bed---or the bathroom. The picture of my dad below is PRICELESS! See, we have a running joke in my family that my dad never gets excited about any gift, he just says "oh thanks, that's really neat." About a year ago he came to visit and was telling me that he had seen the coolest thing in the skymall magazine.....a brownie pan that has little dividers in it so when the brownies are cooked they are all edges (I hope that makes sense) so I actually found it on Amazon and ordered it for him but the best part was he actually got excited----like for real excited when he opened it-----I can only imagine the level of excitement he would have had if he wasn't sick!

Here's a picture of Jed modeling his new sunglasses......I HATE buying for Jed---he's so hard to buy for and he usually returns everything I get him....in fact he just flew out to Austin today and his nice new pen I got him and sunglasses are sitting on the desk in the office.....which means...they'll be going back. Below is a picture of Cash modeling his jack-o-latern grin (I'm not sure how I got this shot) I just wish you could see the top of his mouth. One top tooth and fang are coming in---it's safe to say he's in an "akward" stage right now. Let me just tell you.....the flu + teething = very cranky baby and no sleep for mom. Well, my mom and Cash are barely feeling better and I have now stollen the title of "worst Christmas ever!" away from Maile. (inside family joke---but one of those "jokes" that's not really that funny)!

I LOVE Christmas time!

Here's just a few more reasons why I LOVE Christmas time......how can you not love a good Christmas smile in a cute Christmas sweater! I loved seeing all the red sweaters at church today---seriously, I don't know why but I love the Sunday before Christmas and seeing all the red sweaters. Notice how Cash has picked all the leaves off our Poinsettia....oh wait, that would be me forgetting to water it so they all fell off!

Look at the excitement on Cashy's face thinking he's totally going to get that ornament off the tree! .....................and success!!
So many of you know that I have a small obsession with the chocoate pretzels at Costco.....if you haven't tried them I HIGHLY recommend them---seriously, they are so delightful--the combination of sweet and salty (to quote my dear friend Missy) just hits the spot....if you don't believe me just ask Cash. I've been waiting for the day that they brought them back to the shelves (they're a "seasonal" item---I think they make them that way to make you buy more of them for fear they won't be there the next time you go) Needless to say...Cashy is a fan also!

Here's a fun picture of Cashy with Grandpa B.-- they're quite the buddies. Cash LOVES to ride in the truck or on the 4-wheeler with Grandpa and even helped heard cows last week! He's quite the farmer.

Daddy's helper!

So yesterday I got home from work and this is what i found.......Cashy riding on the 4-wheeler with his dad plowing snow. It was seriously the cutest thing ever! He thinks he's such a big boy when he gets to ride on the 4-wheeler with Jed. He likes to hold on to the handle bars like he's steering. I would think he would get cranky from being cold but nope---he would stay on there forever if I would let him and the faster Jed goes the more he loves it!

A little anal.....or maybe not so much!!

So many of you who know my husband might know this and some of you might not.......he's quite opinionated as to how I decorate the house. When it comes to Christmas time this comes out to the extreme!!! Take for instance our Christmas tree.......he brings me the container full of ornaments and I sit on the couch and carefully unwrap them and then oh so carefully hand them off to him and he decorates the tree. Yip, my bum doesn't leave the couch....I simply unwrap, hand over the ornament and watch him work his magic. The first year we were married I tried to help but after he took off every ornament I put on and placed it in a better spot I simply thought "this is not a battle I'm willing to fight!" Now don't worry--I have of course thrown in a few gay comments regarding this obsession of his (although I can testify he's not gay! wink, wink!) But then the obsession stops for some reason when it comes to our white trash lawn ornaments outside! Notice the leader of the pack reindeer in this picture doesn't even have lights on it.....what the hell is up with that??? This girl at church on Sunday said "hey, I sure like your deer in the front yard." It was one of the moments when I smiled and was all "thanks" not totally sure I understood her and then as I got too far away from her to go back and say something it hit me.....she was totally making fun of us!-----and totally deserved! Everyone knows I hate tacky lawn ornaments and I'm afraid we're the Griswalds of the neighborhood! Honestly at this point I think Jed does it just to mortify me more than anything!

Christmas PJ's

So I got a package in the mail the other day from my BFF Sarah and it had the CUTEST pair of Christmas PJ's for Cash inside! Everyone at work was making fun of me because I went crazy about how stinkin cute they were! Don't worry---I called Sarah and she said it was ok for Cash to wear them before Christmas. I know there's lots of families out there that have a Christmas tradition of getting PJ's each year and getting to open them on Christmas Eve.....I think it's a definite tradition I want to start with my own little family. Maybe I'll even let Jed pick out a pair of "PJ's" for me!!!

Temple Square Lights

Nothing quite like the lights at Temple Square to get you in the mood for Christmas. Of course we admired them from our nice and toasty warm car tonight. We basically did a "drive by" of Temple Square you might say. Ben and Kami are in town visiting before he heads off to Iraq for a year (Kami will be back in a month---she's going to be living with us while Ben's gone so she doesn't have to be all alone in Hawaii---yes, that's right---she's choosing good ole Utah over Hawaii---I know, I know--she's CRAZY!) So we started out the night with dinner at the Cheesecake Factory and then headed downtown for our drive-by. Below is a nice action shot of Cash waiting for another bit of mashed potatoes while thinking to himself "I wish my mom would put down that freakin camera already and give me some grub!"

What a difference a year makes!

Pretty crazy to think that it was only a year ago that I was 6 1/2 months pregnant and wearing the elf hat and being dumb with Jed. Now Cash is 9 months old and big enough to wear the same goofy hat! I have to admit it's probably been the best year of my life so far having this little man in our family. Christmas has a whole new meaning this year. Even though Cashy is still small the Christmas spirt has an excitement that I've never felt before. I'm going to try to post at least one picture a day from now until Christmas of things that I'm grateful for and that help me feel the true spirit of Christmas.

Thanksgiving in Portland

This Thanksgiving we headed to Portland to have Thanksgiving at Maile and Nates. We haven't been here in a few years so it's been fun to come and see Maile's new house----which she's done a fabulous job on! So Thanksgiving day was yummy and we stuffed our faces of course--more than once! Today we headed to the Saturday market and walked down my the waterfront. Cash took a nice morning nap in his stroller.

Maile is convinced that Cash is just going to go straight from rolling to walking. The kid still doesn't think he needs to crawl. He has attempted the army crawl but he pretty much thinks he can get wherever he needs to go by crawling. Below is a nice picture of the girls on Black Friday......what? ---you can't see any other girls but me???? That's because we have the car so freakin full of bags that there was no where else to sit. Poor Meridith started to get claustrophobic in the car with all the bags so we decided it was time to stop. That was my first experience with Black Friday-----I'm not such a fan. It's a little too crazy for my liking.

HELP!!

So I'm the first to admit that I'm clueless about this whole "motherhood" thing and I'm pretty much just winging it on a daily basis and I usually can figure it out but I'm pretty stumped on what to do about my latest issue with my little guy. See the bottles above----notice that they're empty----that is something that NEVER happens at my house! Seriously, Cash has never been a big eater but the last couple of months he seems to hate formula. At first I thought he was just being lazy so I put the formula in a sippy cup---nope, won't drink it. He'll drink water or juice but not formula. I still have a few months until I can put him on real milk so I'm just wondering if any of you mothers out there have some suggestions. I talked to my doctor about it and he doesn't seem to concerned seeing as Cash is healthy but the other thing is the kid hasn't gained that much weight in the past 4 months......which the doctor also told me not to worry about because his head is still growing which is the most important part. (I'm thinking "ohgreat---so his head keeps growing and his body doesn't---pretty soon he'll be looking like "an orange on a toothpick!". I'll also be the first to admit that I think I have this idea in my head that he's suppose to be a little chubber because he was such a fat newborn and well, "skinny genes" don't really run in my family. So anyway, just throwing it out there for some ideas. Oh one more thing....the doctor told me not to waste my money on trying different kinds of formula.
